Facebook is crazy!  I recently had a birthday and I had over 130 people post a happy birthday message on my  Facebook “wall.”  There were well wishes from old high school friends, chiropractors around the world, practice members, long lost cousins and even my next door neighbor!

If you’re on Facebook, do you remember the feeling you had when you first joined and found all your friends?  I felt like I had walked into a big party.   When you increase connection in your life, you feel more energy, more power, more action. Believe me, I felt it yesterday!

Albert Einstein summed up the benefit of connection with “A human being is part of the whole called the “universe,” a part limited in time and space.  He experiences himself, his thoughts, and feelings as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion… of consciousness.  This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us.  Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in all its beauty.  Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security.”

Feeling “connected” to all that is, especially ourselves, is critical to well-being.  If you’ve spent a significant amount of time in nature you know that feeling of connection.  If you’re on Facebook, you may even be “addicted” to the feeling of connection you have with others.  These experiences remind us that connection, the opposite of separation, brings more “life” to our lives.

You get this same benefit from chiropractic adjustments.  Think about it: adjustments reconnect and replenish nerve flow.  That means that when we adjust you, we are helping your body re-energize and function more to your potential. When you are able to be still enough to listen to your body, you may even feel the power being turned back on right after your adjustment.

Patients have commented to me that they feel more clear-headed, in tune with their bodies, and generally “connected” after an adjustment.  And interestingly, they feel it immediately.

I recommend we each spend more time in nature; and face-to-face connection with others is always ideal. As far as Facebook goes, it may not be for everyone, but chiropractic is! Who do you know who is going through life a bit disconnected? Tell your friends about how your adjustments reconnect you and replenish your POWER!
